I was not sure what expect as this was my first venture into Olitans. Overall, I’m pressed with this knife. The company may need some help.
The knife has what I would call very good fit/finish, I was a little caught guard by this. It definitely feels like it should cost a bit more, it’s very solid and a little on the heavy side but not obnoxious or obtrusive. The ergonomics feel good for medium large hand.
The crossbar lock is dialed in, at least on mine. It is by far one of the better feeling crossbar locks that I’ve used and the detent is a little on the firm side, which I prefer.
The blade is SLD Magic steel which I believe is Hitachi and I’m starting to see it in multiple offerings so I wanted to give it a try. The factory edge is nice and very sharp. Time will tell if SLD Magic steel is a good option but out of box it was ready to go.
My only complaint about the knife is that the clip feels a little weak and it’s not reversible. With a crossbar lock, that is almost a crime.
As I stated, the knife is nice, I’m happy with the product.
The company however, needs some serious customer service help. I ordered this January 20th, 2025 and it was listed as “in stock”. It’s now February 24th and my knife finally arrived this morning. I emailed Olitans multiple times and each time I got the run around. That makes me seriously question whether I would order more products from them in the future. I’m glad my knife arrived but I fear I would have been SOL if it never did arrive. You make good products, be better on the customer service side!
